Role Overview
As a Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading, developing, and supporting one or more software development teams. Your role combines people leadership, delivery ownership, and process excellence, ensuring that teams are set up for success while aligning their work with Aceve’s strategic goals.
You will oversee professional development, performance management, team wellbeing, and resource allocation, while also playing a key role in governance, change management, budget planning, and delivery management. Working closely with senior leadership, you will help drive high-quality software delivery through Agile, DevSecOps, and Lean practices.
Key Responsibilities
People Leadership & Development
Hire, onboard, and integrate new team members, ensuring a smooth start and ongoing support.
Conduct regular performance reviews, providing clear feedback and development guidance.
Support individual career growth through mentoring, training opportunities, and continuous learning.
Promote and uphold company values across the team.
Address team-related challenges or conflicts in collaboration with HR when needed.
Team & Resource Management
Ensure teams follow established development processes, standards, and best practices.
Manage team budgets, including planning, monitoring, and cost control.
Allocate workloads effectively, balancing delivery needs with individual skills and development goals.
Ensure teams have the right tools, competencies, and capacity to work efficiently.
Act as a coach and mentor, helping team members grow in their roles.
Delivery, Process & Governance
Take ownership of project and delivery management for your team(s).
Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, policies, and change management processes.
Monitor and drive progress against Development KPIs and OKRs.
Ensure accountability for team delivery and outcomes.
Collaboration & Communication
Manage communication with key internal stakeholders.
Facilitate regular team meetings to share updates, gather feedback, and address concerns.
Foster a culture of shared ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement across teams.
Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Implement and evolve Agile, DevSecOps, and Lean development practices.
Align development processes across teams to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Promote a “one-product” mindset and cross-functional collaboration.
Track and analyze development metrics (including DORA & SPACE metrics) to drive data-informed improvements.
Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices.
